My photographic discipline springs from an enduring interest in the natural world, how its comprehension escapes us, and how its presence can be felt and expressed. The images here are documents of encounter, and they comment on our relationship with the environment and its other inhabitants. In some cases they function as an attempt to archive the presence of species that are being lost. They place in contrast the immense and the miniature, the natural and the artificial, the animate and the insensate, fragility with teeming abundance.
I have a B.A. in Philosophy and Spanish from Wabash College and am currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Art Photography at Syracuse University, where I also teach Photography and Film.
